Like organizations everywhere the SCCE and HCCA have been affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. In this podcast, the organization’s CEO Gerry Zack explains how the association has been handling the crisis and what the future holds.

Fortunately, there is much good news. The vast majority of the staff is working remotely, while a small crew at the office ensures that the mail gets answered and orders get shipped.

On the meetings front, the association has transitioned to virtual meetings very successfully and actually expanded the educational opportunities. One example of that is our regional meetings. In the past a compliance professional in City A would be unlikely to travel to City B for a one-day regional conference. Now that the meetings are virtual that’s not an issue. As a result, there are dozens more meetings to choose from.

The association will continue to move meetings to virtual formats where possible. For the Compliance & Ethics Institute it’s still too early to make the call, as Gerry explains, but we’ll be watching how things develop closely. And, for the Academies we hope to be able to resume live meetings in the fall.

Listen in as he shares more details about our meetings, the new, free web conferences for SCCE and HCCA members, and how COSMOS is helping our members access their magazines electronically. Plus, there’s even more available now on COSMOS with new content to come.

  1. Cardiovascular and other heart diseases seem to b e on the ascendancy causing many fatalities around the world, from the very common forms such as Arteriosclerosis and Hypertension to the rare forms such as CARDIAC CAVITIES popularly known as HOLE IN HEART which occurs when part of the heart tissues become ARTHROFIED or dies off , these diseases remain a serious threat to many lives . ARTERIOSCLEROSIS is a condition that occurs when large amounts of cholesterol or insoluble fats accumulate around the walls of the blood vessels or the heart thus causing them to constrict and impeding the free flow and pumping of blood, this then lead to the development of abnormally high tension ( HYPERTENSION) in the walls of the cardiovascular muscles which over time causes a swollen and painful system , the swelling then reduces the elasticity of the muscles resulting into inability of the blood vessels and the heart to conduct and pump blood a condition known as CARDIAC FAILURE which leads to fainting and sudden death. Arteriosclerosis may however be corrected through surgical procedures such as the CUT and OPEN method to remove the excess cholesterol or fat deposits from the cardiovascular system to enhance free flow of blood or through ENDOVASCULAR COLLING a method that involves the introduction of a tube through the blood vessels to dilate them as well as restoring their elasticity. CARDIAC CAVITIES on the other hand though rare in relative terms is still prevalent and occurs as a result of genetic mutations or disorders that causes some of the heart tissues to become ARTHROFIED or die off during the early developmental stages resulting into the formation of abnormal heart sizes and shape often with cavities within the heart. This condition often occurs during intra uterine life or embryonic stage and may be corrected when detected early through the introduction of INDUCED PLURIPOTENT STEM CELLS( juvenile or unspecialized cells) into the affected part of the heart which will then regenerate into new cells to replace the ARTHROFIED or dead cells resulting into the formation of a normal shaped and sized heart. These methods however require highly skilled personnel and up to date facilities to be successful thus remaining beyond the reach of many affected people.
