It was a long flight from Lagos, Nigeria on United. My daughter’s birthday was the 3rd and she insisted I visited before my trip. She is in a boarding school in Lagos, Nigeria. I rushed off to the airport, got on the 12 hour flight on United from Lagos to Houston, and another 2 and half hours flight from Houston to Las Vegas.  I arrived Las Vegas on my birthday for the 2015 SCCE and came straight to the conference. This is my fourth visit to the conference. The first time was in Las Vegas, then to Washington DC, and Chicago last year and now back to Las Vegas. Each year I have attended has been an awesome time and different.
Major highlights for attending these International one is that I get to meet different people from all parts of the world. The idea of spending days with people in the same field is exciting and has helped me expand my horizon. We have introduced new things to the business to encourage and change the ethical culture. We have focused on ethics, as we realized that once we have an ethical culture; people will automatically comply to rules and regulations.
I have turned myself to an Advocate for the group and convinced Compliance Officers in the Pension industry to come be part of this great conference. This morning, the speaker on the Generations blew my mind. He confirmed exactly what I discussed with my colleagues how the Millennials are over protected and the learned a new concept today “adultolensce”.  As Compliance Officers, it is important to understand attitudes, behaviors and mind set of the people we work with. I head out of Las Vegas but must try out something new before the long trip back home.
I look forward to the 2016 conference in Chicago.
