I’m experiencing the conference for the first time and have absolutely taken key points with me thus far for keeping my passion alive for auditing managed care organizations. In particular, I’ve enjoyed attending the sessions and listening to many spectacular speakers.

The sessions which have shared DOJ knowledge have been particularly helpful to me. I’m also energized by the professional networking opportunities we have had a chance to engage in.

I think my favorite presentation thus far was: “Going on the Offensive: Strategies for Investigating, Combating and Affirmatively Litigating Against Fraud.” Why was it my favorite? It contained a wealth of information about these key points: proactively combating the potential for fraud, investigating allegations of fraud both historical and real-time, litigating allegations of fraud by the government and it was helpful when the presenters tied in a discussion of specific civil and criminal federal cases. The panel of presenters worked so well together to deliver important points. If you missed this session, check out the presentation on the HCCA Mobile App.

The General Session: “I am your Board Member. Please listen to me as to what Compliance education I need in order to serve as an effective Board Member,” delivered a very important message about how important the BOD is to the CO. I really appreciated this presentation because it will be especially helpful to me as I help MCOs try to understand the importance of a CO having a direct line to the Board. It was reaffirming to me, and provided me key themes I can use to communicate the importance of training the BOD.
