I am very thankful to work for an employer who allows me to attend one HCCA Compliance event annually. Until this year I had always attended the CI which has been a highlight for my career over the past several years of attendance. Following those events, I get back to my office with so many new ideas my head feels like it will explode. The ideas come from the networking opportunities I take advantage of during the event; from visiting exhibitors during my solution seeking ventures; and of course from attending the amazing educational sessions from experts across the compliance arena. I was disappointed I had to miss this year’s CI due to my father’s health issues, and decided to try the Healthcare Enforcement Compliance Institute. My expectations, to be honest, were set lower than what is typical for CI events. And I will say after a day and a half of attendance at this event, I see how very wrong I was. The pre-conference sessions were fantastic (shout out to session on Health Information Privacy and Security Standards)! And Roy and Jenny really helped me identify areas for my personal growth related to my “soft skills”. The excitement and ideas flying around my head are back with a vengeance. Moral of my story…HCCA puts on awesome events, regardless of which one you choose to attend. And they continue to validate the fact that yes, I am a true compliance geek!!!
