I managed the Compliance program for a plan that received an .55 audit score from the 2014 program audits. We also received a perfect ODAG score. I’m often asked how did we receive such a great score. The simple answer is audit audit audit. It was a mid-size plan; therefore; We were able to conducted comprehensive audits every month. Once we found an error we would start our probe and rooted out all additional errors. We took and end to end approach leaving not stone in turned. Dashboard are great if the data is correct; however, they cannot be a substitute for focused targeted audits. The key to our success was mirroring our audit program based on CMS audit protocol and utilize the exact same methods for auditing and scoring. Regardless of the previous months performance we audit the same way each month.
