What are the current thoughts and trends that Compliance Officers and their organizations should be aware of when asked to “Benchmark” their compliance program.   On September 30, 2016 Bret Bissey, FACHE, MBA, CHE, Senior Vice President at MediTract and a veteran in the Health Care Compliance industry will be presenting “Benchmarking Compliance Programs” at the HCCA Indianapolis Regional meeting. The presentation will lead an interactive discussion that will focus on the uniqueness of Benchmarking Compliance Programs and how the approach differs from other hospital departments performing this task.  Aspects of the presentation will include a discussion of the following topics:

  • The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General in its’ compliance guidance documents cites the need for benchmarking and evidence of compliance program effectiveness. Learn the differences and similarities between benchmarking and effectiveness.
  • Learn of techniques and tools to utilize to measure identified areas of your compliance program to assist in the benchmarking process. Several benchmarking measurements will be introduced and discussed to assist in creating consistent standards.
  • Learn techniques to “sell” your benchmarking efforts to your Leadership and Board to assist in gaining approval for necessary resources.
  • Discussion will focus upon the topics of compliance effectiveness, benchmarking, budgeting and planning processes to achieve best practice.
