HCCA CI Guest Blog: First Time Speaker

After attending the Compliance Institute for a few years, I decided to be a speaker this year. My decision was largely influenced by my recent experiences in dealing with a CIA with my organization. This uncharted water for me left me a bit flabbergasted and wondering if I would ever survive.

In knowing what I encountered and the limited knowledge which seemed to be available from people who had actually lived through a CIA, I decided to share my knowledge. After-all, compliance is an ever-changing, ever-growing area where we all must learn from each other and share knowledge.

Don’t be afraid to step up and share! Become a leader in this industry and when you have pitfalls, share them with others so that they may avoid them.

Together we can do this! Make healthcare more compliance & ethical and let our goal be to put the fraud and abuse tasks forces out of business! We can dream, right?

  1. Congratulations Michael! I too was a first time speaker at the CI. My motivation was also based on drawing from personal experience. I agree. When we step up and share our experiences, we grow as leaders and we also make our community better.
