Bring Your Boss to CEI

I attended my first Compliance & Ethics Institute at the urging of our company’s President & CEO. Now, a few years later, he has decided to attend as well. I believe that makes me one of the most fortunate compliance professionals in the business.

Corporate culture matters, and the right culture is not achievable without CEO support. I have that support. At the same time, the compliance profession can be tough. One cannot thrive without a strong network and a chance to be renewed. SCCE membership and CEI attendance provide me with that network and renewal. I am excited about the opportunity to share this resource with my boss.

My hope is that over the next few days he will gain a greater understanding of the challenges that compliance professionals face each day. Compliance risks continue to expand. The CEI provides excellent coverage of both the issues and how to respond. By attending these sessions, he will be better equipped to respond when I raise issues or ask for resources.

In addition, I am pleased that he will also get the chance to interact with the great people that make up this profession. No other organization possesses the family feel evident at CEI. Compliance people care about the profession and each other. Hopefully he will experience this camaraderie over the next few days and become a part of our big compliance family.

I will let you know how it goes after the conference. At this point, however, I hope “Bring Your Boss to CEI” catches on.
