HCCA’s Upcoming Indianapolis Annual Regional Conference to be held on September 30, 2016, will include a presentation by Joy Heim on Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). The presentation will cover:
- A brief history and the goals of “The Triple Aim;”
- Comparisons of the various types of ACOs;
- Governance requirements and how the shared savings process works;
- Current ACO landscape and the Franciscan ACO experience;
- Compliance needs and requirements;
- Five available MSSP waivers of portions of federal fraud, waste, and abuse laws; and
- Joy’s favorite waiver.
Joy Heim is the Compliance Officer for Franciscan ACO, Inc. where her duties include overseeing its compliance efforts through education, developing policies, managing the compliance committee, monitoring regulatory changes, and investigating privacy and compliance issues. Joy looks forward to sharing her thoughts on compliance as it relates to this exciting transformation in the delivery of healthcare, called the ACO.
